Teen Essay Contest

On Sunday, May 17 the Mental Health Association of the North Shore held its 2009 teen essay awards ceremony at the Hotel Orrington in Evanston.
The Naomi Cohen Institute awarded 12 high school students their prizes. Lawrence Cohen, President of the Institute spoke to the audience about mental illness and the stigma that his organization is trying to erase through education. The students read parts of their essay, which was titled, "How does the pressure to achieve affect the mental and emotional health of teenage boys". Following the presentation of the awards, students answered questions from the audience.
